SAP C/4 HANA – The new SAP CRM generation

15.11.2018 Philipp Grundmann, translated by: Rebecca Pichler

Just recently, the corporation from Walldorf published its new solution for the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) with SAP C/4 HANA (Customer 4th Generation HANA). SAP C/4 HANA substitutes the existing system SAP Hybris.

New emphases for more offensive

The motivation of developing this new solution is to set new emphases on the CRM-market and at the same time, to compete with the present CRM-market leader Salesforce. SAP goes into the offensive.

It has to be noted that the success of the SAP-products for CRM so far stayed out. For the corporation that wants to be situated at its best in all areas, this is a thorn in their side. Knowing that there is acting potential in the CRM area, SAP has been investing immensely in the last two years.

This is how acquistion of Gigya, CoreSystems and CallidusCloud developed. Business solutions that meanwhile all have been implemented into the C/4 HANA solution portfolio. This distinguishes itself by its composition of five independent cloud solutions, which are all pooled under the name C/4 Hana.

The cloud solutions include the SAP Marketing Cloud, the SAP Cales Cloud, the SAP Commerce Cloud, the SAP Service Cloud as well as the SAP Cloud for Customer. According to recent information, the clouds are also sold separately.

Links for optimal business processes

In addition, SAP has promised a tight link to SAP S/4 HANA. Linked together, S/4 HANA and C/4 HANA are to provide perfect results all around business processes.

According to DSAG, C/4 HANA could develop into a success story, if SAP manages to realise a better system integration. However, one has to wait and see, because until now, there are a lot of questions left unanswered, amongst others regarding strategie and license theme.

In the meantime, SAP C/4 HANA is situated in the marketing area, the official sale has not yet begun.
