Alternating theory and practice

05.02.2019 Pascal Mansel, translated by: Rebecca Di Francesco

My name is Pascal Mansel, I am 22 years old and in my sixth semester I am studying Business Administration Industry at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg - Heidenheim.

After graduating from high school in 2014, I worked for various companies such as Bosch and Osram for almost one year for a transitional period before traveling through the U.S. for three months: from the never-sleeping city of New York, Seattle with its headquarters of Amazon, foggy San Francisco and the City of Angels, Los Angeles, to Las Vegas and finally Hawaii.

Strengthened by this indescribable journey, I began my dual studies in IT-Informatik in October 2015. What I particularly like about the dual system is the alternation between theory and practice. In this way you get to know the theoretical basics on the one hand, but on the other hand you see directly how the processes work in the company.

In addition, I got to know many different areas of the company during my practical phases: from team assistance and personnel tasks to process and project management to sales and marketing. IT-Informatik also focuses strongly on individual preferences.

In addition, both colleagues and supervisors are very nice and helpful.

This makes integration into the team much easier. In the individual departments I independently performed many different tasks.

In team assistance, for example, accounting is part of everyday life, in project management the creation and administration of projects as well as the development of project controlling. Or in sales and marketing the creation of marketing documents, the optimization of the CRM system or the acquisition of potential new customers.

I am currently writing my bachelor thesis, so I am in the last two months of my studies. After my studies I get a permanent position and will complete a trainee program to become a junior sales manager. Here, too, IT-Informatik offers a wide range of opportunities. In general, training and further education measures are very much encouraged.

All in all, it can be said that I am very satisfied with my dual studies in IT-Informatik. That's why I'm always looking forward to new colleagues!
