Not at all like the cliché of the coffee making trainee

29.01.2019 Thomas Wühr, translated by: Rebecca Pichler

Hi guys,

my name is Thomas (27yo) and since October 2017, I am a dual student in the domain of business informatics at the "Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg" (kind of a cooperative university) in Heidenheim. I will complete my studies in october 2018. Before that, I already took part in another study program.

What I noticed right during the first practical phase at IT-Informatik was that my tasks were to be taken serious and that they were relevant for practice. This can thus not at all be compared to the "coffee making" trainee.

In addition, all colleagues offer advice and assistance which immensely facilitates practical learning. The fact that you change your stations during each practical phase helped additionally to understand the entire picture of all jobs and tasks and to expand personal know-how.

I also liked that areas were proposed, but that the final decision however lied with me. To be honest, the last three years passed just like that and it is so much fun to initiate things yourself. This is why I am looking forward to working here in the future!
